Millie Eva Wehn Baldwin was born in Philadelphia in 1853, and moved to San Francisco in 1855. She married Orville D. Baldwin, a financier and real estate operator in 1873. She was an important figure in the San Francisco social scene. Later in life, she devoted herself to botany.
