'Blooming Flower' is an original opal serpentine sculpture signed by the Zimbabwean artist Canaan Musiyiwa Ngandu. The sculpture presents an abstract floral figure in Ngandu's quintessential style: The sculpture is composed of two graceful leaf forms reaching and curving upward and then splitting in the middle. Ngandu expertly plays with the texture of the surface, bringing parts of the leaves to a high polish while leaving others with a smooth yet milky appearnce. The result is an elegant and enigmatic abstract that reaches toward a higher truth in nature.
