Here, Sylvia Spicuzza has taken the opportunity to create a geometric, crystalline composition of color while testing a set of Rembrandt artist's pastels. Her fractured planes of color borrow their formal qualities from the early analytic style of cubism developed by Picasso and Braque in the early years of the 20th century, though could also be compared to the de Stijl compositions of Piet Mondrian in their pure abstraction.
