'Saluting Bird' is an original opal serpentine sculpture signed by the Zimbabwean artist Canaan Musiyiwa Ngandu. The sculpture presents an abstract figure in Ngandu's quintessential style: The figure of the bird head is constructed out of a series of floating, curvilinear forms, like reeds of grass reaching toward the sky. The beak and crest of the bird is a single curving s-shaped form, as its neck reaches toward the center like a question mark.
