'The Rehearsal' is an original watercolor by the Milwaukee-based artist Julia Taylor. In this painting, Taylor captures a scene of a rehearsal in the Milwaukee Ballet: two figures, a man and a woman, dance on a polished stage. Red light floods the scene, leaving the two figures nearly in silhouette. Taylor's approach and subject matter recall the paintings and pastels of lauded Impressionist painter Edgar Degas, who likewise turned his eye to the modern stage. Watercolor on white wove paper 12.88 x 20.38 inches, sheet 18 x 26.5 inches, frame overall excellent condition with no signs of wear or damage. Framed to conservation standards using archival materials, including 100% rag matting. Presented behind glass and within a graphite-finish aluminum moulding.
