'Undefined' is an original acrylic painting on canvas by Alayna Rose, signed by the artist in the lower left. Working within the tradition of Abstract Expressionism, much of Rose's work focuses on the tension between representation and non-representation. In her works, splashes of color will suddenly gain figuration—a pair of birds, perhaps the side profile of a passing figure—before returning to nonsignifying pools of color once more.
