Javier Enrique "Jaike" Nunez

Javier Enrique "Jaike" Nuñez completed his degree in Marketing and Publicity in 1987 in Lima Peru and studied painting under Peruvian teacher Enrique Polanco.

Jaike finds inspiration in jazz, movies, and the art of non-western cultures. Like Picasso, he finds inspiration in African masks and the art of indigenous American cultures, but he also draws on the aesthetics of Japanese Kabuki, a traditional theatrical form that developed in the seventeenth century. His pictorial language draws heavily from music; instruments and musicians figure prominently in his work, especially the figure of Miles Davis.
