Philon Latortue was born June 4, 1944 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. While studying at the Academie des Beaux Arts in Port-au-Prince, he joined the famed Centre d'Art in 1962. He is known for translating scenes of Haitian life through the use of animals. He has exhibited in galleries in the U.S., Germany and Mexico. 2007
